In 2005, the Marathon Gas station shuttered its operations, leaving the property dormant for over five years. In a strategic move, the Redevelopment Authority (RDA) seized an opportunity in October 2010, acquiring the property from its previous owners. With a vision for revitalization, the RDA promptly initiated a transformative process. Demolishing the aged structures on the premises and orchestrating the meticulous removal of subterranean infrastructure, they collaborated with the EPA, leveraging grant funds to ensure comprehensive environmental remediation.

By 2012, the scope of redevelopment expanded as the RDA acquired an additional property to the north of the Marathon site. Clearing the way for an expansive development, the RDA razed the existing house on the newfound parcel. This strategic maneuver paved the path for a grander vision. Ultimately, the property was entrusted to Blake George, who envisioned residential housing. Under George's stewardship, the site blossomed into a vibrant community property, featuring the construction of two elegant four-unit residential apartment buildings.
